Story behind the photo
The Women of Kong is made in the village Bandar-E Kong, Iran near the Gulf. This part of Iran has a strong connection to the sea and is characterised by the use of colourful face masks by women.
This photo is made from a rooftop. At night I was overlooking the town and saw this house. I waited until people passed to give the scene more life. The shoes in front of the door, the laundry drying near the house and the woman on the phone are small details that bring character to the photo.
