Story behind the photo
The Mall shows the inside of a shopping centre in Esfahan, Iran. The photo is made from the rooftop of a hotel.
Esfahan is a city with a lot of beautiful historic sights. While staying there I made many photos but none of them was on the level of fine art. One day I went to the rooftop of the hotel I was staying in, at the end of the afternoon. It was after sunset and the city lights were on. By accident, I saw the scene. I had to stand on a narrow part of the rooftop that was not allowed for visitors to get the composition that I wanted.
The special part of The Mall is in de details. The men chatting, the woman passing by, the clothes and the bright colours in the deep make The Mall a photo that can be seen over and over again.
