Story behind the photo
Selfie at the Lake is made at Lake Urmia in Iran. Lake Urmia is a salt lake that was once the biggest in the Middle East. Due to climate change, the lake has sunken dramatically. At the time of making the photo, the lake was only 70% of its original size.
What you see is a man standing on a salt hub in the lake, taking a selfie with the people in the swan in the background. Because of the concentration of salt in the air, you don't see the difference between the water and the sky. While making the photo I zoomed in on the people and their reflections. Leaving surrounding mountains and other boat swans out of the composition. The result is a surrealistic photo that catches the eye.
Selfie at the Lake is visible in the coffee table book Genesis.
