Story behind the photo
Early Memories is made in the old city centre of Tsfat, Israel. The young boy walks playfully after the cat.
Tsfat is the city of Kaballah, the mystic part of Judaism and art. At the time of making Early Memories the town felt calm and had a relaxing, artistic vibe. I was able to make photos of people from various religious backgrounds. When walking in one of the alleys of the city centre, I saw two kids playing in front of their house. One of the boys started to follow a passing cat. I waited for the moment the boy and the cat were positioned between the blue downspouts. That was the moment Early Memories was born. The photo is touching because of the tenderness of the moment. The boy and the cat fit perfectly in the composition. The mother of the boy was standing close by and approved the photo.
