Story behind the photo

A man walks in an ally of Bethlehem, Palestine at night. The streetlight creates a warm atmosphere emphasizing the old stones and bricks of Bethlehem. The laundry and plants in the window give a human, modern touch to the scene.

I made Bethlehem Nights when I stepped out of a restaurant after having dinner. Bethlehem was crowded at the time of making the photo and felt at times chaotic. Walking around town I was searching for moments that would represent Bethlehem I had in my mind: a city with so much history. It was by accident that the moment I was searching for popped up while leaving the restaurant. The photo represents the old history of Bethlehem with modern elements.
